Brad Barbeau, MBA, Ph.D., Founder
Brad Barbeau, Ph.D., is passionate about helping entrepreneurs turn their dreams into successful companies.
In addition to founding Ascend Business Design and Development, he is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the CSU Monterey Bay College of Business and Executive Director of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (iiED) at CSU Monterey Bay.
As a professor, Brad teaches new venture design, new venture formation, and entrepreneurial finance. As Executive Director for the iiED, he trains entrepreneurs and advises entrepreneurial ventures.
With Ascend Business Design and Development, Brad helps startups and growing companies create and implement marketing and financial strategies to achieve and sustain profitable growth.
Anjika Grinager, Design Guru
As Design Guru at Ascend Business Design and Development, Anjika Grinager assists companies with developing and presenting their corporate culture through mindful design.
She creates integrated design and content that presents compelling value propositions to potential clients and customers. Good design is an ongoing process that can be measured and improved through reviewing analytics and audience engagement.
She joins the Ascend team in designing and developing comprehensive and integrated marketing strategies for clients.
Anjika believes that any company can be a social enterprise and encourages companies to explore how they can build their brand through effective collaboration with the communities they serve.
Shelby Siano, Social Media
Shelby leads social media for Ascend . Shelby is experienced in designing social media strategies and content for a variety of clients in different industries.
Shelby works from a deep understanding of her clients’ businesses to identify how social media marketing can be most effective. She sees social media marketing as a set of tools to create rich conversations and deep engagement with customers.
She is honored to help small businesses use social media to help achieve profitable growth.
Brian McCrary, Sales Strategy and Management
Brian McCrary is a Sales Strategy and Management Intern for Ascend. Brian works with small businesses and emerging startups to design, build, and implement effective selling strategies and manage sales through the Salesforce CRM.
Through his previous experience working in the packaging industry, Brian has worked alongside major name brands such as Procter & Gamble, Anheuser-Busch, Paul Mitchell Systems, and Sephora Cosmetics to create tangible value for consumers.
In 2014, Brian co-founded a specialty coffee shop in his hometown of Santa Clarita, CA, a lifelong dream for a self-confessed coffee addict. Aside from his passion for marketing and all things business, Brian enjoys staying active and spending time with his fiance, Rebecca. When he isn’t sipping a cold brew, reading a book, or spinning his favorite side of Zeppelin II, the LA native can be found rooting for his beloved Los Angeles Kings.
Jia Wu, Accounting Intern
Jia Wu is an accounting intern for Ascend Business Design and Development.
Jia is an international student who comes from China. She will graduate in summer, 2018, with her degree in business administration with a concentration in Business Accounting.
Jia has experience working as an intern at Ward Accountancy Inc., and as a bookkeeper for Monterey Drone, before joining the Ascend team. Her goal is to work in a professional accounting firm and get her CPA license.
Tina Campbell, Event Management Intern
Tina is Ascend’s newest member and has the challenging task of keeping us entrepreneurs on task and on time. Tina is the primary organizer of the 21st Century Marketing workshop series, making the logistics happen while Brad and Anjika design the workshop series.
Tina is completing her bachelor’s degree in Event Management in the College of Business at CSU Monterey Bay.
